The most common places for the Peptic Ulcer to develope is the stomach and the Duodenum. The Duodenum is the first section of the small intestine, its responsible for the break down of food in the small intestine.When the ulcer is in the stomach it is a Gastric Ulcer, and when the ulcer is in the small intestines it a Duodenal Ulcer. The most common cause of peptic Ulcers is Helicobacter pylori ( a germ that causes infection) this may be spread through dirty water and unwashed food or mouth to mouth contact such as kissing. Other causes of Peptic Ulcers are really rare, one example of this is Zollinger-Ellison syndrome- its a diease that makes the body produce too much stomach acid (Hydrochloric acid), which harms the lining of your stomach or in other words the Duodenum.A peptic ulcer is treated by taking 2 antibiotics twice a day for one week, the name of the antibiotics you can take are metronidazole 400mg and clrithromycon 250mg.
